what did you meant by uunlistenable ? yeah it has many (did i say many?) time signature changes, tempo changes, pitch changes, etc. at first it was an obstacle to me, but after a few linstenings i was : fuck yeah that rules !, and because i write some fuckeed'up stuff like them (not as fucked'up though) maybe you should give them another try !

I have no problem with odd time signatures, rhythm changes, etc. I listen to quite a bit of prog. To me, Rody is one of the most annoying vocalists ever - he has a grating tone and jumps all over the place with styles for no apparent reason. They also give off that "technical for the sake of being technical" vibe. I'll not deny that they are talented instrumentalists, but they have a severe lack of songwriting ability in my book.

This was a big thing with the new cd Fortress. Have you tried listening to Kezia? Rody said himself they pupously wrote Fortress the way they did. I saw an interview that's floating around here where he said the fans that like the music, but don't really have an appreciation for the musicianship will more than likely hate the album, and that's what he wanted.

I can't believe all this shit talking about Protest, my god. They're a little harder to digest than a lot of stuff, but if you give them the time you'll probably grow to love them. I hated Rody and thus this band at first, and now they're easily one of my top three. (with The Faceless, and Glassjaw)
