never compare Sumi Jo with netrebko...Sumi is far far better - maybe 10 times better - than her artistically...
Onlt Netrebko is taller and more beautiful -- that's it ! No better side I can see..

Netrebko has better phrasing, coloring, acting. I suppose acting could be excused as this is only a concert. Jo of course has a much more agile voice. But this isn't a mad scene. It's a see-how-well-I-can-sing, one-woman show.

Sumi Jo, Netrebko? Is this a joke comparing them in the same breath? Sumi Jo is a vocal phenomena with an innate understanding of how to place the voice and move tone in anyway that she wants. Netrebko? Some one trying to push their voice with little execution of coloratura. if she is prettier or a better actress than she belongs in the movies. When I listen to opera I want to hear someone who knows what they are doing, all the attention on netrebko is just ridiculous

...you should never doubt the abilities of other singers.. at this level most of these singers can do everything the other can technically, mostly only the color of their voice varries and acting skills choose the arias for them. dont put down someone whose been claimed to play the best elvira ever.

i love sumi jo, dearly, because her voice is SOOOOO powerful, it's ridiculous. but someone seriously needs to fix her italian, i mean she's been popular for like, 15-ish years now, can she get a coach from SOMEWHERE? and she needs to work on coming into the high notes (like the e-flat at the end) because she hesitated. she went: f,g *small breath* g, e-flat, a-flat. which i guess is fine, but just doing a g, e-flat, a-flat would have been cleaner. and why do orchestras never play the full end?
