haha! Thrash Metal starts after Hardcore Punk, because its the way to play Hardcore Punk in a Metal way you looser! You could read the statements of Metallica, Megadeth etc. in American Harcore(book), too.
And "that hardcore is its own genre"? - No, thats what you new school tough guy-Loosers tried to say...but our Hardcore is spelled P-U-N-K!...simply, thats the reason for the splitting into two different groups: Tough guy New School "HC" and old-school mostly anti-tough guy Hardcore Punk(HC)

Yes in one way. new school is not the same as (old schoo) HC. But old school HC is old school HC and has nothing to do with streetpunk in that way. Minor Threat, Kill Your Idols, Gorilla Biscuits, Kid Dynamite, Gallows, Good Clean Fun.ect.pp. what ever are just HC! And for all. Old school doesn't mean its history! its a way to play music(a style which existet in everytime since the beginning) and its the music of on of the "HC" Scenes.
