India, I would say, has gotten past this "traumatic" stage as you put it. Any such "trauma" lies with an older generation that is soon on its way out. It is up to the new, young, youthful generation to propagate such change. Youth of today care less about partition than they do about what India can become in the future. Also, if you don't have a reason to be inspired about the future, then people will come to a standstill.
