Ah well - history moves back and forth. If Rossini had lived somewhat earlier, Rosina should have been sung by a castrato. And, isn't it lovely to see somebody enjoying himself on the stage so much as he does ? And, I love his cadenza.

Non è giusto giudicare un cantante da un brano che esegue in concerto...con questo ragionamento molti altri cantanti andrebbero insultati per esempio quelli che cantano in concerto brani barocchi che nn hanno nulla a che fare con la loro vocalità.Poi a mio parere va ammirato un cantante che si presenta al pubblico in un modo confacente al suo carattere(L'abito nero è ormai diventato noioso).In quanto alla voce essa è bella purtroppo ha il problema dell'aria nelle volate ma nessuno è perfetto...

This is most certainly an accomplishment - that a man can manage the fioriture and pitch - but I am unsure what the point of the exercise could be. Does he hope to sing Rosina? Rosina is feminine before all else. This is not. It is terrifying.

He has talent but I was quite distracted by his extremely flamboyent appearance. the sun had set on the castrati by the time this opera was written, the singer should best tone down his flamming quality and sing the older baroque works like the opera seria and primarily the church works. If he would just tame his awkward presentation there is definantly a place for him in the world of the older baroque works. He should sing a cantata or something. SING THE ROLE OF A MAN!!

Awfully surprised here. Vocally amazing, but the costuming does no help watching, too gothic/satellite to my taste. With a voice like that I'd sing Octavian, the composer, mozart trouser roles plus the usual baroque, but maybe he's not interested.
