Much as I love Sutherland's voice and singing, I prefer the old recordings of this beautiful Tosti song by Galli-Curci, Tetrazzini, Patti, and Melba. It was for Melba, I believe, that the brilliant embellishments Sutherland incorporates were written. Pinza also recorded a fine version.

She looks a little scary to me at this concert (blame it one the camera!). Anyway, the pure joy at singing that is so characteristic for Joan comes right through.
