This isn't the best rendition of the aria. But this singer recently won rave reviews as Ortrud. I'd love to hear a clip from that!

Guys this comes at the END of the opera! Even Deborah Polaski had trouble with it when I heard her recently in Vienna. Can you imagine how exhausting this role is?

Very well sung. But I've seen the complete recording and heard the top notes and am very worried about the voice. So much pressure is audibly put up underneath that I wonder seriously if this beautiful and characterful dramatic mezzo will burn up as dramtic soprano within a few years....

Ms. Charbonnet has a beautifull voice! And she IS a dramatic soprano. I saw the entire opera with her, it was amazing. Tristan and Kurwenal were amazing as well. And for whoever wrote that Ms. Charbonnet is a mezzo - what would you say about singers such as Meier? Varnay? and Urmana? Give me a break! True dramatic sopranos have a mezzo ruite in their voice, and that's a fact..!!

She is no mezzo. I went to school with her and saw her do some wonderful things such as the Countess in Figaro, Ellen Orford, Desdemona where she obliterated James King as Otello. Now I will say she's not singing her best here. I don't think her voice is a Germanic voice, nor as heavy as she thinks it is...

Yes, Deborah Polaski has difficulty with this because she is 60 years old!!! And has been singing this repertoire for 20 years. This lady is a newcomer and is already worn out and ruined.

she has also been singing everything from Butterfly to Tosca to Turandot over the past 15 years internationally (Fenice, Torino et cetera). A hugely gifted artist, without the press agentry, pretension, and puffery that characterize her more well known colleagues in this repertoire.

except for the note at 4:12 I think she sounds really great ... beautiful color of voice ... read what "counteralto" is saying in her comments ... the girl knows her stuff ... (Urmana is one of my favorite at the moment by the way) ... I think people are saying pretty much anything here ... they don t even know they don t know much ! that s what happens !
