World wide supply for oil is apprx. 84 million brls. A day.
This is a deficit of about .012%.
Any disruption at all will inflate the price per brl., regardless of the actual deficiency in supply.

What the Republicans and the administration are (not) telling the american people is that all of the oil that they purpose to drill will be put on the open world market and sold to the highest bidder. The Democrats should (insist) that any oil recovered in the US should stay in the US.The big oil companys want federal (tax payer) money to help pay to set up the rigs and permits to in the long run ship (our oil) overseas.Wake up American once again we are being lied to by the Right Wing.

If republicans say we need to drill how would any public official be against the use it or loose it plan so oil companies would have to drill on land they currently have or they loose it (since the alleged issue is access to more areas to drill, why not agree to use current areas of oil or let them go if nothing is there?). Opposing this is like granting a loan to someone who will not agree to look in the current bank accounts for any possible money. This smells of special interest interference!

I'm an ECONOMICS major and i'll tell you oil does not function strictly in terms of supply and demand. Oil is inelastic, our entire infrastructure, cars, food, cosmetics, plastic, all circulate around oil. So we need a serious long term solution, we can't pass down our problems to the next generation!

in my opinion, drilling in US wouldnt help much. they would probably just add it to our strategic reserve. by the time we are ready to use our own oil, our country will be destroyed. this is more than just a transportation crisis. we need new ways to make all petroleum products, without oil.
