In punk rock you don't need a good voice, on both problem child songs the guitars are very limited. both bands (ACDC and the DAMNED) have a lot of spirit.

As much as I love The Damneds music, (I have seen them 35 times from 1978 to present day) I always thought the Dead Kennedys were and always will be the greatest Punk band, their music was superb and Jellos lyrics are still better than any other band I have heard, he was better than Bob Dylan ever was, East Bay Ray was a fantastic and unique guitarist, Klaus was a great Bass player and DH was a great drummer.
The Damned are without doubt the second best ever punk band .

Not all Americans are Country Cowboy Cunts. The Damned wrote the book on a certain kind of brilliant Punk Rock 'n Roll. Yeah - love Jello and all. Saw the D.K.'s in 1980, then saw The Damned. Different animals, really. Both great, but The Damned rule the roost. Incomparably great. Forever.

im an american to so apparently im a tosser has well. but in all fairness dave vanian was heavily influenced by the new york dolls and alice cooper, not to mention the whole band being influenced by the sex pistols who lets face it would not have existed without the ramones. i do feel the damned where the first to bring good punk back to the states and i do agree with your last statement because punk today seems like a new invention because what most consider punk 2day is not punk its puss.

Music for pleasure was a great album. I'm not bothered what the Captain thinks. The tour with the Dead Boys supporting was great (with Jon Moss). Saw them at Newcastle City Hall. Two of my mates (?) were down the front scrapping with anyone in sight at the end - then Cheetah Crome walks on stage threatening to jump off and sort them out. Next thing I hear is that the Damned are banned from playing there. The next tour - when they got back together - they had to play Whitley Bay Rex Hotel instead

"New" punk is new (not to my tastes), but I never got the "my school" is better than "your school" stuff (high school was lame; I don't much care for adults that act like the world is their high school). After all, isn't that why some of us liked The Damned and punk music? Sheeesshhh. Oh, sorry, but before London punk (yes Vanian was influenced by the NYC scene) and NYC, there was Detroit: The MC5 and The Stooges. Yeah.
Heard Music For Pleasure 1988 and when i heard it, i thought " ?!!?, it's brilliant!". They wouldn't play it live and some would say it wasn't as good as Damned Damned Damned. I loved MFP and there was barely a bad song on it.
