Finally it is here! The Norma contest! Everyone was asking for this one, and it a fun one to put together. There are a lot of sopranos here! So take your time and give them all a chance. most be the most overestimated singer ever.
Caballe launches a Casta Diva with elegance
and conviction. Simply the best interpreter of this particular aria I have heard.

I definitely agree with you. With some sorrow.. but Bartoli has derived into some studio pre-recorded product! Very sorry sorry for her. She was (is on stage - but not no Norma so far hopefully!) a extraordinary Rossini cantatrice... not Bellini

Ya es hora que dejen de decir que esta es mejor que aquella, eso solo muestra ignorancia y complejo de inferioridad. Las dos fueron magnísficas interpretes y virtuosas. Cada una de ellas son únicas y especiales. Viva la Caballe y viva la Callas. Viva el arte y punto!

Caballe and Callas met in Maria Callas' apartment in Paris, just before the 1974 performing of Norma at Orange. Callas encouraged Caballe to play Norma, and she went to see the opera. After the show, Callas gave an interview about Caballe's exceptional contribution for belcanto. And she also said to the director of the show: "You made her look to beautiful".

Callas had an amazing admiration for Caballe. In her opinion, Caballe was the only to continue the belcanto tradition. In one of her interviews, Callas was asked: "Who could take your place in belcanto singing?". And she answered "Only Caballe!"

The magic of Caballe is not only the technique, but also the texture of the voice, her force and also her sensitiveness. One really have to listen to her speaking about music, in order to understand the fire within her soul. I was overwhelmed about her music and her feelings. In one of the songs composed for her by Vangelis, she made the lyrics: "Let me feel once more, the moments of music with you. Music and feelings within it, are the moments that conquered my heart!" What more could she give?

OH MY GOD!!!! That is as great a Casta Diva as I've heard! Ponselle, Callas, Sutherland and one can only imagine Pasta would bow down to Caballe's Diva! Let's play it again!!!
