I'm with Jimbo on this. I remember screaming out a massive 'yeeaah!' when I went to see the Flaming Lips and they opened with 'Race for the Prize'.
That said, how on earth does resenting someone swearing 'depreciate music and its lovers'?
If anything it sounds like its musical roots are deathrock/indie.
