By far the best film version of Robert Louis Stevenson's classic sea adventure. Heston's portrayal of Long John Silver, including Robert Newton's and Wallace Beery's is the best of all bar none. The duality of human nature, a constant in Stevenson's novels, is well portrayed by Heston's screen persona and the duality of the fictional character. OLiver Reed is brilliant as Billy Bones and Christopher Lee is positively spooky as Blind Pew. A first rate film. N.B. Schaefer

it should have been released in theathers, it could have been an even bigger success!
Until now, I'd only seen the French dubbed version, which is magnificantly dubbed.

Absolutely agree with you. It'd be difficult to imagine how the great story could be better told on film. Wonderful. And it's not the acting that makes it (perfect though it almost all is); it's the authentic script that wins it - at least for me.
Obviously, those two things are in harmony (actors and adaptation - which is rare), which means that Fraser Heston created, I reckon, the greatest retelling of a classic since Lean's "Great Expectations". And that WAS a classic.
