Linda doesn't like all the development in Phoenix...well maybe it has something to do with her illegal amigos who invade the USA every day, 3,000 per day. Mexicans have a country; it's called Mexico and it's in need of development.

A "Native American"? Hmmm, don't you know your own history? No such thing, Native Americans are immigrants who settled in North America, coming from Asia/Siberia, down through Alaska and Canada. Why shouldn't everyone? Because we're adults and not children,that's why. Because adults realize that if you don't have locked doors on your home, you will invite trespassers and squatters. You are clueless about commercial development and government. how does the city board spend moeny? with shoddy construction, hiring greedy contractors, no concern for the people and environment and just building crap.If illegal immigrants were on the city board then you argument would hold water. but NAH.
As far as Elvis Costello - Your facts are sooo 1980's. Elvis HAS SINCE APOLOGIZED HEAVILY. I saw storytellers on VHI. Ronstadt is a very intelligent, gifted and shrewd song interpreter.

Actually, Linda Ronstadt helped Elvis Costello break thhrough to the main stream by recording a few of his songs in the late 1970s. She was one of the top rockers at that time. Her recording of "Alyson" was a rich, soulful, adult lament, instead of a snippy, bitchy swipe of a song as Elvis did it. The reason why she is considered one fo the best interpretive singers is because sometimes her version is better than the original.

Additionally, Elvis Costello complained that Linda made him mainstream, and he went on to criticize Ray Charles for being an old whore. What is so amusing about all of this is that years later Elvis Costello married mainstream jazz artist Diana Krall, and he recorded with Hall & Oates and Paul McCartney. Can't get any more mainstream than that. Talk about a sell-out whore...

Ronstadt was probably the first mainstream rocker in the late 1970s who embraced New Wave music and made it popular with mainstream fans. Her "Mad Love" album recorded in 1979, before many of the New Wave artists made it big, had many of the elements of sound and attitude and image that her female rock successors like Pat Benatar would soon emerge with.

Because she was the only solo female rocker in the 1970s she tok a lot of hits from the Establishment (Rolling Stone magazine) and "alternative" press. Her ability to successfully interpret and record different rock & pop genres prevented her from being pigeon-holed. She was one of the first rock chameleons along with David Bowie, years before Madonna was credited with that title and praised by the same press that crucified Ronstadt.

While there have been many detractors in the critics field, there have been as many supporters. Linda Ronstadt has successfully recorded the following genres: folk, country rock, pop-rock, classic rock, rhythm & blues, New Wave, Big Band, Mexican Standards, Cuban salsa and operetta. She sang the national anthem flawlessly (unlike Whitney Housotn who received rave reviews until it was discovered she lip-synced it).
