Theese little cute things are weak, slow, but there are always many of them. Hind is made to drop troops (it can cary 8 armed soldiers)and help them from above, destroing tanks, transport and enemy`s infantry. Must be scary to see it from the ground on the battle field.

My favourite chopper. Wonder who'd win an air battle between this and the AH-64 Apache Longbow. Apache is nimbler and has better electronics and targeting but this thing is armoured and armed to the teeth. Apache is much more fragile.

ahhh the hind. i've loved these choppers since i was a small boy...big flying tank...when u thought of the soviet armed forces u thought of the ak-47 and the hind. still a great chopper...just upgrade the electronics and u have one badass copter. just look out for those stingers buddy...remember afghanistan in the 80's?

i'm not a military expert but i think they fixed most of those heat-signal problems in the mid-80s, however many were still shot down as they had to be the decoy, drawing missle fire, to protect large airplanes landing/taking off.

In Afghanistan they lost just 19 Hinds... Most of 333 lost chopers were Mi-8 and Mi-17 (transport). 19!!! IMHO it's a small number for 9 yeras war...
Modernised Hinds have anti-IR guided Missle instalations.

The Hind still gives me goosebumps whenever I see it. Unlike Apaches or other attack helicopters hiding behind trees, the Hind charge straight at you in high speed, usually in packs of 3-4, and armed to the teeth. They are nasty looking machines and can do a lot of damage before running out of ammunition.

Last flying hind in the polnish army. There are no spare parts from russia.
But you need the US missle defence system. You need to piss at your neighbours. Polnish soul. Like back in 1939. Pissed up UdSSR and pissed up Nazi germany. Only England& USA 4 big friends. Back then every 4 pole was killed because of this. And now the same crap.
