Blake has never transposed an aria, he has the greatest ease in the upper register of any tenor in modern history.

stop talking...just checked the piano again, its a a high which is the proper key for this aria, this particular clip is not transposed down though some tenors do that.

You're obviously not familiar with this aria, or for that matter, the tenor voice. The tenor high C is not meant to be pretty, rather it is for dramatic effect; in other words, piercing. Pavarotti, Gedda, Kraus all had the same type of "cat strangled" ring on top.

well...the LYRIC tenor voice is meant to sound a bit like that. sure, its not the BEST example, but its not bad at all! better than i can do, for sure, but then i have a lighter tenor voice. good reply spgtenor...this IS meant for the drama...
