I know lots of people think Sal and Jimmy have really great chemistry. But I actually find this to be a really great example of the chemistry between Dean and Natalie Wood. It's so adorable and affectionate the way she's running her fingers through his hair and caressing his face.

Good chemistry between amazing actors. Look at Jimmys reaction when Natalie says to Sal "go to sleep baby" - baby,thats what Jimmys girlfriend Pier Angeli used to call him all the time. He both swung both ways and had both girlfriends and boyfriends. His loveletters to Barbara Glenn are still around and are autenthic. What a good acting trio: Nat, Sal and Jimmy! Rest in peace........

I agree...there's a reason why they were cast alongside one another. Natalie had a crush on Jimmy. I read that during the kissing scene, she was shaking from nerves, and Jimmy held her head to keep the kiss going, even after they yelled "cut". Also, like you said, with the whole caressing his face deal..Jimmy follows her lead and caresses the back of her neck. Hmm looked like flirting to me. Gosh, what a lucky girl...

Barbara Glenn was Jimmys on and off girlfriend in New York between 1952-1954. They were very close and all his friends have stated that this relationsship was one of Jimmys most serious ones. She married a director named Mark Gordon and interesting she has never tried to make money of Jimmys name like so many others have done. I used to have a scanned copy of one of his letters and he wrote several loving ones to her during their times together.She was also a part of his gang in N.Y.

Dean-his death was scarily forshadowed by someone who said he'll kill himself with his Spyder.
Sal-People heard it but were too late to help. And his killer basically got away with it
Natalie-To this day I find it so odd that 2 people were on that ship & people in the area heard screaming & didnt think to call the coast guard or something. No big investigation, nothing. If someone died by their biggest fear, I would launch a man hunt. That's a big foul play motive...

The first days in June 1954. They spent much time together since they worked on studios next door to eachother. The relationsship ended around 30th September 1954 exactly one year later to the day he died in that carcrash. What an cruel ironi!!!!

Amazing, totally magical. Light years ahead of most acting at the time. Relaxed, economical, with improvisational touches that completely integrate into the piece. Makes me wonder what "Rebel" would have been like as a verité b/w film. Thanks for posting.
