$98 Linux Laptop from China - The HiVision MiniNote
Pershkrimi videos:HiVision makes one of the worlds cheapest Linux laptops at $98 using a new cheaper chipset, WiFi, 1GB flash storage, it runs Linux, 3 USB ports, Ethernet, SDHC card reader, audio in and out. Voice-chat, Skype, multi-tabbed Firefox browser support, Abiword for word processing. Automatic online software updates. Their current model is based on a public chinese low cost case mold design and is running on a MIPS processor, they may soon also support an ARM9 with DSP as the processor and they are showing their own nice looking case design molds. All running on smooth Linux interfaces. In this video, I got to borrow a review sample of the laptop overnight, and I try to show you all the browser and other software interfaces in this extended video review of this cheap MIPS based laptop. ARM and DSP is the way that I hope that most cheap laptops are going to be based on in the near future, Google will hopefully make a great Chrome browser for this kind of Laptop and hopefully that the geniuses at OLPC soon will announce that they will work to improve ARM and DSP based laptops in XO-1.5 and XO-2 designs.

| really? i wouldn't think it would make a difference, as long as this computer had a fast enought processor, and enough ram and hardisk spacem it shouldn't be a problem, although it wouldn't work well at all, and it would be one laggy ass comp, but it should still load on.. |

| Windows and all of its applications are built for x86 and x86_64 CPU's (8086, 286, 386, 486, Pentium I, Pentium II, Pentium III, Pentium IV, etc.). This netbook's CPU has a completely different architecture (Longsoon), which is not compatible with x86. Personally i think that x86 is a bit outdated. In my opinion RISC machines could be more efficient if they were built with the same technology as x86's. |

| I've been using linux for 5 years now, and I'm totally satisfied with it. I can do anything I want. It's harder to configure and learn, but once you've set it up, it's much easier to use. I would buy a non-x86 laptop if it had a bigger screen than this one. |

| China is going Linux, china is developing its own processor called the Godson 3, the Godson 3 processor that is made by the chinese government is a real threat to microsoft and even Intel survival. China, in the future will make all its schools go Linux base, because china government say they dont want to be dominated by microsoft or Intel, because the chinese do not want to be control by anyone, so they are developing their own processor, you can buy it too now if you want. |

This operating system in the future will be Microsofts and Intels downfall, because the chinese government is setting up their schools with Linux instead of Microsoft based computers |

I fix windows pc's & people come to me all the time & I sometimes shake my head because there computers come to me tore up & filled with spyware/malware/viruses/key loggers & it is sad because most of the people do there banking/paying bills on them & they did not even have a firewall & I just look at them & shake my head. |

| ive noticed a distinct lack of videos surrounding these fab litlle note books , i hoope to be receiving mine in about january-februray sand i will be posting an unboxing vid , and plenty of hacking vids (as soona s i get it im gona rip it apatr and ad an internal usb hub and a few 8 gb flash drives ) so bout then be sure to check it out. saying that its between the eee pc , acer one pc , and this . its looking like this due to money shortages and the fact that i love linux .:) |

| This laptop is not really optimized for mass production yet I think. But it should be very soon.. For example they need fully open source Linux OS with software updates, for example Android and they need Flash support.. |
