| Gee..for the life of me I've listened twice and I just don't get the screaming, especially since she avoids the high D at the end. Very tasteful singing. As regards 'a poor man's Callas', need I remind you that Callas develpoed a vibrado through which one could drive a Mack truck. Besides one can't go the the opera house and see Callas live anymore. Like it or not we deal with what's available now, and depend upon recordings for those who are no longer singing for one reason or another. |

| The high Eb is not actually written in the score - it became popular after Callas sang the option, but it is not required - also, singing the aria in a concert setting vs. singing it in the opera are two very different things - Violetta has a lot more to sing after this aria in the opera - especially the extremely taxing duet "Gran dio morir si giovine" - you have to save your voice for that - Netrebko also didn't sing it at the Staatsoper in Vienna - What a great performance though! Stunning! |

| Her Violetta will always be one of very favorites, but I also have to add that she is so gorgeous in Act I of this and I want to steal that exquisite white dress. However - and I know this is an early clip (1994) - what is she doing at 1:47-ish? Looks like a hand gesture you should only overtly do in the recording studio and during practice...haha. |

| What I like is the fact she assumes that joy and delight that realy exists in those words. Maybe she has some problems with her breath, but I am not bothered with this be cause many times we saw sopranos who stay steel and sad while they are singing this air, but sadness will come after in the libretto. I don't like her "star performances" but here she impressed me. My humble opinion. |

| Angela is a good soprano, but not great. Callas and Sills were both truly great singer/actresses. You are young and do not know this. They are legends. Angela will never be that. |
