The entire basis for your argument is as substantive as Liz Phair's last album. The reasons she offered up for changing her sound in that article (for the kids, wanting mainstream acceptance, she digs Marines) all boils down to money. Money. That was all she had to say. Instead, she tried to hide behind her kids and said she wanted to appeal to an audience who never listened to her in the first place. I am a fan of her earlier work but those reasons sound phony and pathetic.

Liz Phair should have been a big star and 'Exile' should have been a huge hit, but she was ahead of her time and it didn't happen.
Later, others ripped off her sound, and it was the right time, and they made millions. Now she wants to come back and rip off the people who ripped her off: well Good For Her!
Liz: take care of your kids, get a nice house, put some money in the bank and, when you're secure, come back and make an album, from your heart, for your old fans.

Totally agree, she was far ahead of her time.
I must admit though I hadnt heard of her until her Matrix album but when I got that I went back and bought her older albums which I like even more.
So, yeah, I like all her music.
