I don't remember why I said that. I must've been responding to something. I can explain the last part:
People get the creeps when Shariah is mentioned. They probably think it sanctions their victimization. But it doesn't. It has partly earned this image among non-muslims because muslims have abundantly exploited shariah's name to please people and get elected and in return only acted as they pleased and caused suffering, and consequently engendered the perception that shariah was responsible.

There is no "the extremists version of shariah". Period. Its a set of rules of everyday life eg how should we pray, earn and the like. Moderation is one of its guiding principles. But people in my country and maybe others have severely abused the name of shariah. The masses want to live by shariah. But they get leaders that are smugglers or warlords. These people play on the masses' pshy to come to power and do stuff like political killing, corruption and oppression of the weak: poor, women etc.
