Now dont get me wrong, im not by any means saying i could write a program that could achive the same level of detail or clarity as this, all im saying is that its been done before and this is by no means breaking into the 4th dimension. :p

Actually there IS software that does this... Panoconvert, 1-2-3d, Flythrough... In fact Im not 100% sure this wasnt done with one of them

If the person who did this put the origional photo in the far back we would not see the black cutout which is likely just the colour his 3d program was set to render in.
Sorry...this long winded response was for SunnyShawFilms. If you want me to send you some examples drop me a line and i'll show you. It's time consuming but pretty easy.
