You've done impressive research and editing, and created what I now consider the definitive video of AMERICAN PIE!
(The only other version I could see being better would actually include actors interspersed with the historical references, but there's already so much information coming at you in this song, it might be too much)

I heard somewhere that American Pie was the name of the plane, but that could be rumor, this song makes me cry too. The last day of marching band, at the end, we all sang this together.

I just looked it up, and the plane had no name actually. So I think American pie symbolizes the fact that american pie is the symbol of the 50s, and when they all 3 died, it was the end of it.

Great explanation of song, but I always thought the phrase "Lennon read a book on Marx" was "Lenin read a book on Marx" referring to Vladimir Lenin and Karl Marx.

lenin read a book on marx would make sense but not in the context of the whole song...

Lenin was influenced by Marx but since the rest of the song is about the 60s it's probably Lennon since Lenin died in 1924

This is an awesome vid, thank you. This is one of my favorite songs of all time.
However, I'm surprised there wasn't a picture of the moon landing or something when he mentions being "lost in space", as I'm sure that's what he was referring to.
The song's in chronological order and the moon landing was in 1969 just like Woodstock and Altamont, which he mentioned around the same time.
Okay! That was just on my mind! I'm done being a nerd now! :P
