Nawas7 - No reponse to my comments about Deir Yassin and the persecution of Jews in Arab countries after the birth of Israel?
I know the Arab ... ( 2 days ago by Nawas7)
I know the Arab Jews issue after the creation of the state of Israel is a very controversial. At that time Arab nationalism was at a peak, it even reached higher peak later on during the time of the Egyptian president Nassir. Arab nationalism is no longer that popular. The nationalists persecuted many Arabs & caused a lot of troubles to their own countries.
But Im sure you dont mean all Arab countries. Are Moroccan, & Tunisian Jews really persecuted?
As for Deir Yasin, ... ( 2 days ago by Nawas7)
As for Deir Yasin, I dont think I completely agree with you. As far as I know some Palestinians exaggerate the atrocity after the event, hoping that this would bring the neighboring Arab armies more quickly. But that propaganda created terror among many Palestinians who then left their homes, which gave the Jews some easy areas to take. I believe most Palestinians today blame the Palestinian propagandists for that.

Obama is so keen on alternative energy to revive the US economy that it seems a matter of a short time before the US takes leadership of the green revolution. The prices oil has descended to could well be permanent as declining consumption of oil becomes entrenched into the industry. People are simply not interested in a future with fossil fuels anymore.

"But that propaganda created terror among many Palestinians who then left their homes, which gave the Jews some easy areas to take."
Yes, perhaps that is true. But I am talking about the incident itself and what actually happened and why, not the aftermath or how it was used. It is true that innocent people were lined up against the wall and shot. People unfortunately often go too far in war. But the reasons for attacking Deir Yassin were legit

"Are Moroccan, & Tunisian Jews really persecuted?"
WHAT Moroccan and Tunisian Jews? There's only an estimated 7000 left in Morocco, & 1500 in Tunisia. Why do you think that is? There were deadly anti-Jewish riots in both countries following Israel's birth & both nations adopted anti-Jewish domestic policies. My own family's experience tells me that even Morocco has not always been friendly to Jews. Tunisia is different now, and Arab nationalism may have quieted, but the damage is already done.
"The nationalists ... ( 1 day ago by chained2it)
"The nationalists persecuted many Arabs & caused a lot of troubles to their own countries."
Its not the same thing. Jews were seen and treated as outsiders by nationalists, as Jews not Arabs. In some cases they were directly thrown out of their own countries. Nasser exiled over 50,000 Egyptian Jews. Where was the public outcry over this? And ironically, as is the case if many nations, Jews have been in Egypt since long before the Arabs ever came - and were then told they dont belong there
Overall I see your ... ( 1 day ago by Nawas7)
Overall I see your words supporting my opinion. Arab nationalism brought a lot of corruption, it caused a lot of damage on locals & outsiders sort of speak.
Unfortunately many people ignore those facts of the modern Middle East history. They seem to think that the conflict with Israel had always been in the name of Islam. Where in fact even the modern political Islamic movement are merely Islamic on the cover. They have similar agenda, policies, & ideology to the Arabic nationalism.
Yes, I am fully ... ( 1 day ago by chained2it)
Yes, I am fully aware of the attempts at man-Arab nationalism, and how that was quite a different phenomenon than Islamic extremism. The Arab/Israeli conflict was born out of conflicting nationalist claims to the same land, not clashes of religious extremists.
And I agree = ANYtime there is a confusion of religion and politics, religion only serves to mask political goals. Religion is a unifying force that can and often has been misused to manipulate people towards political ends
I commend you for ... ( 1 day ago by chained2it)
I commend you for at least recognizing how Deir Yassin was exaggerated and used to enflame opinions. It is nonetheless an unfortunate and brutal event, and one that Israelis are not proud of. But as I said, Palestinians ignore atrocities committed by their side as well.
Muslims must ... ( 1 day ago by DolittleZoo)
Muslims must recognise that in every nation throughout history, the military is used to fight in a battlefield. This honourable fight is important to keep women, children and property safe whilst the men beef it out, whereafter on outcome will stamp out a treaty and everyone carries on life with the new rules. Muslims encourage their own demise due to ignorance of the rules of engagement and continue to erode any respect and authority without which life is not possible with other people.

why should palestinians focus on thier atrocities when the world onbly speaks on thiers plus israel ha 1000000000000000 times more atrocities

The world knows that a viable nation anywhere in the world is an asset to the world. We, realise that Israel can be an asset to the world and can play a role in the world. After all they have a democracy and export markets even if they dont have oil. They are quite an advanced nation and are players in the technological fields. Palestine we know will be just like any other muslim nation which is usually not too impressive. Fighting, anarchy, regressive and a future enemy to peace in the world.

Post 9/11 ... ( 1 day ago by DolittleZoo)
Post 9/11 non-muslims got a "crash" course in islam (pun intended) and now muslims are going to have to explain to everyone how a sexually depraved warlord whose ambition was for his kingdom become the sole witness/author of a book that is a guide to morality and spirituality. Why did Arab society descend from their dizzy heights while still practising islam to a 90% semi nomadic society in the 1930s (preoil). It is a humiliating descent for a so called enlightened nation empowered by islam.

Many people look at Islam through dark glasses of prejudices. Therefore, they only see darkness, not the true color of Islam.
The Arabs didn't ... ( 8 hours ago by RenShiWu)
The Arabs didn't really ascend to anything - just like the Mongols. The Mongols were barbarians who cannibalized superior civilizations (China mostly). Once that task was complete, the Mongols drifted back into obscurity. Note that the deserts of Arabia - the home of the Arabs and the birthplace of Islam - was never the epicenter of Arab civilization. It was always either Cairo, Damascus, or Baghdad i.e. those places situatied in the lands of great empires of old: Egypt, Syria, and Mesopotamia.
I'm prejudiced ... ( 7 hours ago by RenShiWu)
I'm prejudiced against Islam because of the crimes committed by Islam. No people or civilization is perfect, but Islamic civilization seems particularly low down the scale. You need only look at the list of countries that sponser terror. The top four culprits are Iran, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, and Syria. Iran and Saudi Arabia are explicitly under the rule of Islam. Pakistan was created explicitly as an Islamic homeland and the religion is paramount in society. Only Syria is (inadequately) secular

You're twice wrong. Baghdad & Cario were founded by the Muslim Arabs themselves. They're relatively new cities.
In the old days ... ( 5 hours ago by DolittleZoo)
In the old days travel was difficult so the centers of learning was in areas where learned peoples resided hence the choice for Baghdad and Cairo. Islam provides the philosophy for terror that crosses borders by recruiting believers with KSA sponsoring the sunni schools of thought and Iran the shia schools of thought. The foot soldiers/training camps using this philosophy are established in Pakistan, Palestine, Somalia etc. where there are large areas which are vacuums from government control.
