Some Christian factions do still cover - I descend from 4 different lines of Anabaptists that did. ALSO, if the veil is viewed as a part of modesty, many women (including Muslim women) do not wear the veil as so not to draw attention to themselves and thus to retain their humility in western states were veiled women are stared at even harder. The veil is also a symbol of unity and a symbol to the outside world of their connection to God. However, if a woman is secure in her faith, why does she need to proclaim it? Her actions will proclaim it above all else through her good deeds.
