I know :) The point is, the first verse actually seems to refer to an "ideal" deutschland. Not Deutschland. there's a philosophical twist to it. Besides, the theme of the lyrics go back much further than 1932.
and Einigkeit, Rechts, und Freiheit are universal ideals.
(Sorry, my Prussisch is very rusty, it's been several generations,so pardon my English)

Moklar is right. That the first stanza of the German Hmyne. it is not sung in Germany any more!!
It was sung when Hitler was alive. Nowadays, however, no more. Today only the third stanza is sung because it is the single one which states good and correct things about Germany!!!

at that time germany didn´t exist as a state, so what the author hoffman von fallersleben wanted to express is his urge to found a German state that unifies all german speaking counties and kingdoms.
Also the borders were correct at that time.
the nazis just missinterpreted these lines and used it for their ideology.
