Do you have any idea how famous this "show" is??
1. It's an operetta. Not a "show".
2. It's a classic, and meant to be farce.
3. Oklahoma is lame. (IE: "Dream Ballet"? *vomit*)
This is a completely different GENRE then West Side Story. But it's just as common. If your school (or any school) can even pull this off successfully, then it's a huge deal. Try to enjoy it.
Oklahoma is overdone anyway. If you want good musical theatre, try Into the Woods or anything by Sondheim.

You have got to be kidding me!
This is one of the best musicals I have ever been in. We are doing this show for my school.
Tonight is the opening night, and I am Mabel and you have no idea what you are saying about this musical.
I'll be honest, the movie was horrible, I mean come in, so 1980's, but the Musical itself is one of the most amazing things ever.

You really shouldn't write reviews when you obviously know NOTHING about the topic (it really shows off your ignorance). Correct, this is an operetta, not a musical...but if you think it's easy and corny...I'd like to hear your rendition of this very difficult aria. Enough Said.

Of all the Mabels I have heard - and boy, I have heard a LOT in 30+ years, I cannot find anyone who sounds as crystal-clear and amazing and looks as saucy yet innocent as Linda. And Rex's voice is also to DIE for! When he sings Is there not one maiden fair, I could just melt. If I was Mabel I'd shut up and snog him! LOL

It's fair to say that she has a resonable voice,bundlehastings, but not amazing. Plus she is singing it in a lower key (that's obvious) with the intention of making us think she's better than she actually is.

Thanks for your comment lluvcelloundsinging, I think it is remarkable that someone of your age has an interest in performing this classic type of work!! Having sung G&S before, I know the challenges you're facing, but once you conquer the music, you'll be able to sing it forever!! Good Luck!!
