Great post Chris! I think you may be on to something. My reaction is to think Ian may be Bisexual. Why do I think that? Ian seems totally convinced that Sexual Preference is a choice. Any Heterosexual or Homosexual person who has given any thought to their sexual awakening knows they discovered their own crushes and feelings of attraction. We do not wake up one day and after weighing the pros and cons decide I like vaginas or I like penises. The feelings are just there.

The only people who really experience sexuality as a choice are Bisexuals. They feel attraction to both sexes and my assume that everyone does. A Bisexual may feel a stronger attraction in one direction or the other but both are possible.
Sometimes a Bi or Gay person will deny or fight same sex attraction by filling their head with all of the stereotypes our culture provides (ie. Ex-gay ministries). Others deny their same sex interest by creating their own logical sounding explanation.
