actually, if you do the research, your money supports the record label. not so much the artists. see, the record label loans the artists money to make the album. that's why most of the money never sees the artists' hands.
a much more practical suggestion would've been to write mmw a letter thanking them for making beautiful music, or supporting them by attending their live performances.

The Wurlitzer is running through an envelope follower low-pass filter, followed by a distortion box. Any brands will do it. I used to have a Electro-Harmonix Doctor Q and MXR DistortionPlus that I used with my Model 200. Or my flute, for a really sick sound... If you put the distortion before the filter, it sounds more like a synthesizer.
