I've been looking, but I haven't been able to find any .45-70 handloads (I posted factory loads) out of a handgun that are able to top the .500 Magnum.
I also don't know what you seem to think pointed bullets have to do with power...

The .45-70 and .500 S&W Mag are typically loaded with roound nose bullets,pointed bullets can travel faster and farther.
If you took a .47-70 with a case fully loaded with smokeless powder and a pointed bullet,it would outperform the .500 S&W Magnum.

The Wildey is really an awesome pistol. I like the fact that barrel lengths as well as calibers can be easily changed and used on the same frame. This video was very informative and covered features of the Wildey that I had not been aware of with the exception of what Charles Bronson had said about the Wildey in the movie. I definitely would like to add one of these to my collection.

Cool gun...I wonder how this thing stacks up to something like a 10" LAR Grizzly win mag.
It's like the 80s was a golden era for semi-autos...besides the Desert Eagle, nobody seems to make these flashy, long barreled, hand cannons anymore. =(

Well he was holding the spring loaded slide back by squeezing the receiver. I noticed that sometimes your hands shake if your squeezing something and holding it up at the same time.

Somewhat but I'd call the DE the best before this even though Magnum Research doesn't make them chambered for the same rounds. Still, to me the DE is even more a masterpiece of engineering. Now, I've never fired a Wildey but saw one in a gunshop back in the late '80s. The owners confirmed what I had read in gun mags that it was somewhat fragile, unreliable, and really finicky with ammo, even with the adjustment.
