Thanks for posting, Ry can always take a tradtional song and make it his own. There was a PBS program from the 70's that I believe was recorded in Chicago. Ry was on that playing selections from his Jazz album. Anyone have any of that they could post?

ever seen hendrix play like someone like chet atkins etc... playing chords melody and bass line at once - instead of just overblown and tiresome blues scales - I think not because he did not have the skill or the theory to even contemplate such playing - he admitted it many times that he was in awe of jazz and classical players and was frustrated he could not really play well - at least he was honest, and mediocre

yup but aint that the beauty of music, that anyone can be musical if they put them selfs to it, i get what your trying to say, and its unfortunate that musicians who practice theory and all these different things for years and years go unreconized in jazz and classical, where as someone like jimi hendrix who was "techniclly less" aware gets all this recognition. Its kinda lame, but most people just dont understand music good enough.

but when you go on stage you can throw theory out the door because your average listener doesn't care about how many scales you've practiced, or if you know the relitive minor of the next chord change, and if its a I IV or V. They only care about what they hear.
and everyone is unique, and thats what makes music sooo awsome!!!!
