And though the quality of the video isn't excellent, it doesn't take away from her passionate and soothing performance..A prayer sent to a place where time and space cease to exist and only beauty remains.
The broadcast is from Quebec, around 1995. The singer introducing her is Jean-Pierre Ferland.
About "Ave Maria":
Though the melody of this song belongs to Schubert, the latin words do not. The original work is named "Ellens Gesang III" (D 839) and is setted on a song from Walter Scott's popular epic poem "The Lady of the Lake". This is the pray the queen Ellen addresses to Maria, calling upon her for help. (Thanks to member MattMatto for the info)

I love the song-It EMPOWERS women.HAIL, MARY. She did the hard work...HAIL, MARY, indeed. LARA sings it, Lara GETS it.
I love Pavarotti, Caruso , Kiri, Callas doing this--all the pros--but sometimes, when you sing in praise of WOMAN, you don't always need "perfection."
You need the passion of understanding.
Don't stereotype Americans. I don't stereotype Brazilians, so offer them the same courtesy.
And don't stereotype the French, either. I am sure there are French citizens who prefer Lara to Celine.
Celine is fine, wonderful, but I prefer Lara.
