October 10, 2006 -- THE boxing world is abuzz over Joey Gilbert, the wildly popular runner-up on NBC's "The Contender." The 29-year- old Italian playboy, who practices law in Reno, Nev., when not in the ring, will defend his NABO middleweight title against Keith Sims tomorrow in White Plains. "Joey is the biggest heartthrob since Oscar De La Hoya was at his peak," said his promotor Joe DeGuardia , who's a lawyer himself. Gilbert just returned from a goodwill tour with U.S. soldiers in Iraq.
