To add to your comment, today the majority of what we see are performers, that's all they are, performers. Rap in those days was performed by artists who showed their talent in their deep lyrics that educated the masses, unlike what we hear today, which only encourage to follow a negative lifestyle.
I consider myself lucky to have gone to HS in NYC where I was exposed to the Tribe, Black Sheep, Leaders of the new school, dela soul, pharcyde, KRS One, and others like them.

I hear you man. You can still find hip hop with smart, deep lyrics and funky beats, like K-OS, highly recommend his stuff (specially Exit). The problem is that the big labels are banking on what sells and that's sad.

NBN's fame really seemed to break with the release of this gem in '93, but it seems O.P.P., another of their great singles, was released in '91. Why didn't they become famous after O.P.P. was released? Was O.P.P. re-released in '93 afer this track and then it became a hit after its second birth?
