he's basically saying that due to unfortunate circumstances, Taekwondo is divided into two factions ITF and WTF. He wishes that one day the two will unite into one. He also says that in uniting the separate factions of tkd, he hopes N & S korea will unite.

the Splits dont really help with power or speed...well not so much. Speed comes from practicing over and over and over (muscle memory and automatic reflexes)power comes from Speed/mass/relaxation/balance/breathing -many other factors. The splits are just showing your flexibility. My instructor cant do a full split, close but he cant just drop and do it. Check out my page and "Mr. Harlow" videos and see how You dont have to know how to do the splits to be good.

being able to do the spilts in itself is pretty useless for a taekwondo practitioner, but the time you spend practicing to do a perfect box split will be invaluable since it will really help your flexibility and you won't have to rely solely on jumping kicks during sparring although they are very effective,
so basically try and stretch as much as you can, but learn how to do multiple flying crescent kicks :D

u knw guys i miss my master in the US he taught me alot his dojang wasn't much but i can assure everyone here he gives everything in his training students(just saying)
