It is difficult for me to take it as granted too. But the matter is that there was a river near the Caspian called "Alban" and the inhabitants arround it Albanians. The inhabitants of modern Albania were Illyrians. Nowadays the inhabitants of this region are Illyrians? Albanians? or Shqiptar? What is the difference? Please don't tell they are the same. I trully want a discussiion.

Illyrian's spoke illyrian, VERRY closely related to albanian, their language in writing form depended on what infludience other nations had over them. before they wrote graeco.. they DREW paintings... later on they used Latin letters. according to the archeology that so smiliar to greece, is also coz of the infuldience. Illyrians is the WHOLE name of the tribes that lived in the area, ALBANIANS is the name of the Albani Tribe, wich ONLY resided in Albania. near Durrazio (durrës). DARDANIA (kosova) is the name of the Dardani tribe, wich was and Thraco-illyrian tribe that lived in todays Kosova, with Nis as its capitol, near Thraco border. Shqiptar is Turkish, they used that name to describe us as albanians. It rises from the name Shqiponje in albanians (eagle)

Nowadays inhabitans in the balkans is.
SLAV = 20-30% Illyri blood(because of the assimilation/slavonization in the balkans during the 6th - 7th century AD, when slavs and illyrians mixed)
ALBANI = 90% + Illyrian blood, Albanoi tribe.
DARDANI = 80% Illyrian blood, 20% Thraco blood

BTW just need to clear this up! to ask why Albanian language isnt written on ancient findings, is like to ask why doesnt the whole western world have their own writing forms & symbols?..
Thats why its not the illyrian language in writing form that decides who they were, but the spoken language it self.

anemovroxis, briton used to be called albania! scottlaND STILL USES THE PHRASE
ALBA GU BRA! that is how they call themselves in gaulic(scottish language, the word alb just describes something, they used it alot in the ancient days like white was sounth, black is north, burgandy = east, and so forth

the word shqiptar, meaning eagle, was made famous by gjerge kastrioti. even before then though, albanians had called themselves schaptars, which are obviously spelled different and carry different meanings.
always through out time, even to this day...you will hear albanians saying, une jam ilir, meaning i am illyrian, kinna like saying, i am greek-hellas

only a few illyrian artifacts have been found with greek writting, but all have(when transelated) albanian meaning and derivation
like i said before, in actual character and looks, it was very dificult to distinguish greeks from albanians, hence the gross implifieing when it came to actual historical records, as it pertains to individualism and identity! but nontheless, illyrians always spke greek aswell, as it was the main language throughout time

and the simple fact that albanian language has borrowed and absorbed the latin language also proves of their antiquity, it takes a while to integrate latin meanins andphrases and words...hence the illyrian-albanian longevity in balkans

Some of them are. Serbs and other Balkan Slavs have a different appearance from many Poles, Czechs, and Russians. So it is plausible that the Slavs in the Balkans assimilated Illyrians. There aren't too many Dinaric type Slavs in the Northeast of Europe like there are in the Balkans.
