The "troops" are nothing more than a group of people who've hired themselves out to murder on command, for an organization that maintains effective ownership over (i.e. enslavement of) approximately three hundred million people, and has been known to incinerate innocent people by the millions when it suits its interests. That they wear clownsuits while killing people doesn't make it any less of a crime. Murder is murder, no matter what you're wearing while you do it.

War happens. Whether we agree with it or not, we live in the United States. That means when we are called into battle, we defend our country (you can move if you like). These men and women (and the many who aren't pictured in this short film) make innumerable sacrifices to do that which others are unwilling or unable to do. Let us pray for our troops and for each other during these hard times. They deserve their due respect, as we should also respect each others' opinions. God bless America!

If I valued their "protective services", I'd pay for them voluntarily. The fact that I'm forced to pay under threat of death or imprisonment reveals just how worthless the "service" provided to me really is, and just how absurd the claims of protection really are.

That assumes the gang of thieves, murderers, and enslavers calling themselves "the government of the United States of America" possesses some sort of legitimate ownership right over the entire territory over which they claim dominion. When you or they prove legitimate first usage and ongoing maintenance of the property claim (robbery doesn't count) then you'll have a point. Until then they're just criminal invaders falsely claiming authority over my life and property.

I find this vid highly propagandas and offensive, Mr. Spielberg. Tom Hanks, you're a sell-out too.
As a member of Iraq Veterans Against the War, I'll be the first to say you damn well better take care of us.
But this is the most acted-out and leading dramatization of service I've ever seen.
These people want you to think that the military is some kind of patriot scout camp.
So you come at us with expectations and those expectations drown us.
I'm a 24-year-old veteran. I hope to see 25.

As an Iraqi Combat Veteran, this montage makes me want to vomit.This slickly produced piece of anti-war propaganda attempts to portray the American soldier as victim;i.e. the main constituency of the DNC.Democrat=Victim. The democrat focuses on fear, sorrow, and death.

The "troops" are people who volunteered to defend what you live for. Who do what your democratically elected president decides they should do, backed by Congress, backed by the US Citizen. If you don't enjoy the system, do something more than whine and cry about it. Go out there and organize a group. Otherwise stop spitting on people who sacrifice themselves for that right.

I think the video could have done without the references to Normandy, Korea, Vietnam and all other past wars, but as for addressing the conflict in Iraq they did well. Great job Spielberg and Hanks, and much kudos to John Williams' dynamic musical score.
