Victoria Loukianetz sings Rossini's "Semiramide", Bel raggio
Pershkrimi videos:Ukranian Victoria Loukianetz sings the aria "Bel raggio lusinghier" from Gioachino Rossini's opera "Semiramide" (with some additional top e's!). The recording was made in Prague in December 2005. The orchestra was conducted by Frantisek Preisler. Look out for other uploads of the same concert, together with tenor Cosmin Ifrim.

| No, the recording as a whole is not ugly, her middle register is like honey to my ears ;-) , but in the region high D, she becomes just too shrill for my taste. |

| is there such a thing as a beautiful high E? I mean really, I think it's more that it's either thrilling, or it's not. I've never thought they were so much to add beauty to the music as they are to add "wow" to it. Few sopranos have solid reliable notes of ANY kind that far above the staff. |

| What about Sutherland, her high Es are plain beautiful (espessialy on her early recordings, for example, in "Bel raggio" on "the Art of the Primadonna" features some truly wonderful and beautiful high notes)? Or Caballe (Il Pirata), Schwarzkopf (Don Giovanni), Sumi Jo (the Magic Flute)? |

| I guess it's all about how the sound makes you feel. For me personally, for just sheer beauty of tone I like mid voice, long phrases (like verdi, or strauss lieder). For thrilling stuff I listen to Norma (which has beautiful moments too), and full tilt Wagner and Strauss arias with a hugh orchestra underneath. Just a preference. |

| I think I undersatnd what you mean. Of course, Miliza Korjus's high Es, Fs, Gs are exciting, but what's the point? For me, a good singer must have a secure lower and middle voice, only then we can start talking about high notes. Come to think of it, a lot of wonderful arias are written for the middle/lower voice. Still, for me, a couple of good high Cs can't hurt ;-) . |

| The voice does exist. But a strange rhythm and the way pretends having so much fun on stage and playing the part at the same time. The welcome at the nd is not that warm... really too cold to me. She gave a lot in a good way. |
