This video is my response to A Perfect Circle's contest announced in June of '04 looking for a fan to produce the video for "Blue." Alas mine did not win, but I am still overly satisfied with the result. We did the best with what we had and we cranked out a four minute piece that is somewhat intriguing and manages to show a slightly darker side of my thought process. You be the judge of the final product. Directed by Frankie Sanchez, featuring Julie McNiven and Nathan Saveriano.

The fact of the matter is, any moron can understand Maynard, but the hidden appeal of him lies in the fact that he gives the illusion of being in a band for smart people. he does this, as any fan knows, by throwing in jumbled references to high school psychology, obscure religious references, and miscellaneous meaningless nonsense. Bullshit or not, as long as there's something there to figure out or interpret, it's going to make some stoned dropout feel smart.

Whilst i mainly disagree, i can understand where youre coming from, its more true of the apc lyrics than tools though. I still think he produces some fairly intelligent material. At least the man has heard of a metaphor, which is more than can be said for most modern music. I am interested though what you would consider to be true 'smart music'
