Start with "Devdas". All the rest zarathustra92 recommend are Fantastic. Also look up, "Bunty aur Babil" .."Dil to pagal hai".. "ma hoo na". I also am just american(lol) but looove Bollywood. I'm totally spoiled on these movies. I can barely watch english movies because they seem so boring w/o the songs and dancing.

I love all those movies they recommend but add Kuch Kuch Hota Hai and Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge. You'll love them. Did someone mention Chalte Chalte? That movie is also really good. And you should definitly see Don (Which is ok) and Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani. And maybe Yes Boss.
