badumpy, EVERYTHING isn't racism, thank goodness. but only a true ostrich, without a basic knowledge of history, would imagine that TV in the mid to late 1960's wasn't rife with it. are you kidding me?? bruce was playing his VALET for chrissake. there was to be no interracial TV kiss for two more years, and in many states it was illegal for people to marry "interracially," until "Loving V. Virginia" in 1967. if you think TV was magically exempt from racism, you should've watched more TV?

Star Trek may have had the first interracial Kiss (under the force of a telekinetic alien), however, NBC said absolutely NO to any Chinese Actors for Star Trek's crew according according to some early source books. Think besides Hop Sing on Bonanza or the Butler on Batchelor father, there weren't any recurring Asian roles of than Sulu or Kato. TV was mostly "White Bread." With rare exception of Jay Silverheels, Native Americans were usually played by White Actors in "Red Face."

Besides Amos and Andy (an adaptation of a White Black Face Radio Show), It wasn't until Diahann Carrol starred in Julia on NBC that had a African American Actress in the lead role for a TV Show that wasn't a Servant. I Spy had the first male Co Star in a Non Stereotypical role a year earlier. Think of how many African Americans Actors were in The Andy Griffith Show or Mayberry RFD? These shows were supposed to be in the South, weren't they? Bruce Lee was the first Asian hero on TV.

Considering how the batman show has been re run so much more then the hornet show,it's a good thing that they did this crossover. how many kids have seen it, and said "Wow,I have to see THAT green hornet show !"Campy,yes, but this episode has kept the memory alive.

That white guy name is Van Williams and I agree that Bruce Lee is better. That's why in China they call the show The Kato Show, not The Green Hornet even though The Green Hornet is the main person of the show. They surposed to make The Green Hornet movie that surposed to come out in 2010.

Bruce Lee had the last laugh though, as by turning him down for the role in Kung Fu, they paved the way for him to go international & become a god to millions.

That's a good point. I think they made a mistake by turning him down for the role in Kung Fu, but he still made four great movies, should've been five, but he died in the middle of making The Game Of Death.

I heard that Burt Ward thought that Bruce Lee wasn't all that. YEAH RIGHT! Bruce Lee was legitimately one of the baddest mother f'rs who ever lived. An an innovator, too. Not just in Martial Arts, but in fitness also. They still write articles in bodybuilding magazines about Lee's fitness regimen. Still an icon among the bodybuilding & martial arts crowd.

you should check out a movie called Circle of Iron. it was written by bruce lee but he passed away before they could make it so sadly it has david carrideen or however you spell it in it. great movie that sums up the teachings of the little dragon
