Her voice control is excellent. Have you heard Sondra Radvanovsky as Leonora? She is younger and the pianissimo is heart wrenching.

that doesn't make any sense. besides, singing that high C pianissimo is traditional performance practice for this aria. lots of things like optional high notes we are used to hearing in performance are not written in the original scores...

Caballe would be my favourite opera singer if she has retired on the 90 s, when her top notes became disgausting and is she hadn´t recorded lucia di lammermoor, which was a huge mistake. She´s not a lyric coloratura soprano and her mad scene is scary in a bad sense.

No point to my statement that follows, but to just say it: This song, by this singer, was played as Freddie Mercury's coffin was entered into the crematorium. I've heard of 2great loves of his life, but this seems to mean he never met his "somebody to love."
(And I do hope the "Miserere" was answered with amazing grace.) Just ponderings...

secondo me è la migliore Leonora mai ascoltata...quest'aria va cantata così, ieri sera ho ascoltato una versione con la Marton (che apprezzo)che urlava a pieni polmoni il do che la Caballè in pianissimo fa in maniera sublime...chi dice che è "flat" secondo me non ha capito granché
