You may find a lot of Bollywood films "silly", but like Hollywood, Bollywood has always been diverse in many ways - a quick search on Google found me dozens of blogs; one of them is Memsaabstory which is about classic Indian cinema - check it out. I haven't read Othello as a child, but this film alone does seem to appeal to a much wider audience on an international scale.
