There's no way this could ever actually happen. The internet is so massive it has developed a natural, unchanging balance. Major IPs stand to lose billions from lost subscribers and private IPs will begin sprouting up providing limitless access. That fucktard from Virgin has no idea what he is toying with.

you obivously have no clue how the internet works the internet is privatly owned you just can't start up your own IP. all of the major IP own the infrastructure of the internet so you may beable to start an IP but you will have to deal with the restrictions handed down to you by the major IP. IF Net Nutrality dies the corperate media will control all of the public opion because they control all of the informtion. IF it dies so does freedom and the consitition

wrong. that is just dumb to say. Restricting what private companies can do is killing freedom. This idea/video is ridiculous. There is not a problem with opening up a new market for faster internet. What will happen? Where there is supply, there is demand. A company will form that provides all web sites with equal coverage, and people who want that in their internet will buy it, taking business away from the other companies. Shut up about your laws, let the market do its work.

ISPs won't lose subscribers if all ISPs are doing it. The way things are shaping up, you will have the same restrictions no matter which ISPs you go to.
Most of the smaller ISPs lease their bandwidth from larger ISP companies (Bell, AT&T, Camcost, etc). If they all jump on board (and they will) the only difference between sites is which ones give you access to which partner sites. YouTube and other independant media will dissapear.

The difference with Lycos is that there were other options (Google and Yahoo, namely). Telecom companies (Virgin UK and Telus and Rogers in Canada) have been open about their intentions to abolisn net neutrality within the next 4 years or sooner.
All of the major ISPs are on board with this (Bell and Comcast have already started throttling their bandwidth). There are no competitors you can go to..
In short, these companies will not lose business because they have no competitors not on board.
