Pretty good performance, although when I did it I just used greens/browns. THe plain way I know but effective when you have to fight skull boars and trolls :)

you buy stuff for the castle in your private quarters (upstairs) whe nyou get upstairs go to the left after loading screen, then right (if you see Gold room to the left) there you see a small circular area carved into the ground, go in there, wait for the miniature tower to come up and press space, here you can select what to buy (only one type of banner may be active at a time)
