Gypsies are originally from North-West India, from Rajasthan and Punjab. They left a thousand years ago. They adopted the languages of the countries where they moved to. A lot of Turkish speaking Gypsies and Turks came to the Balkans during the Ottoman empire.

The Balkan countries have a many Turkish speakers. In Bulgaria alone 1 million. Some of them are Gypsies and some are Turks. They have a special identity and subculture. This song, in Turkish and Balkan Romany is a product of Turkish speaking Balkan Gypsy culture. There many kinds of Gypsies and Gypsy cultures. They speak different languages. But, the Romany language is shared by different communities. It is the original Gypsy language. It is an Indian language related to Punjabi and Rajasthani.

I hope a clarified this to you. Remember that the Gypsies have been outside India for a long time and have developed many distinct cultures, just like the Jews, who also have a common origin but have lived among other peoples for a long time. Just compare Eyal Golan (Yemeni Jew) with David Broza (British/Spanish Jew) and you'll see the difference even when they sing in Hebrew, the original Jewish language.
