And he looks over the fact that at the time, the US supported a popular uprising with money, it was the Saudi and Pakistani intel agencies who decided which Afhgan commanders to support and they chose the extremists. You sure Jimmy Carter didn't sign an executive order (written by Brzezinski) in July of 1979 (6 months before the soviet invasion) sending massive funding to terrorist groups in Afghanistan in hopes of destabilizing the country and forcing a Russian invasion. ZB even admitted this on record in an interview with Le Novel Observateur in January of 1998.
