Actually, Prince made a song called Shockadelica because he was inspired by Jesse's title Shockadelica... The cats in Minneapolis drew inspiration from each other. It was Prince who able to demonstrate a more variable pallette of musical styles....

Prince recorded a song titled "Shockadelica", lyrics inspired by Troy Beyer but also a sorda 'diss' at Jesse's latest album title. Prince teased about how could he have a great title but no song on the album with the same name. Prince offered the song to Jesse but he turned it down, and because of that Prince rushed for the song to be released out before Jesse's album. By time Jesse's album was released it looked as if Jesse stole the title from Prince.

Jesse is still hot?? Hmmm.. have u seen him lately? I wouldn't say he's tore up, but I sho' wouldn't classify him as hot neither. Ole Jes' done got old. They all have. Jesse ain't a slender brotha no more. He's gotten chunky & is wearing a press n' curl. Still looks okay but not "hot". The only ones out of the Minne music scene that still look youthful r Terry Lewis & Jerome B. Everybody else is showing their age. Even The Purple One is lookin' considerably aged in the face and hair is thinning.

Looks like I got to take what I said about Jesse back. Someone showed me their pics they took with the band in Las Vegas recently, and Jesse looks the best out of all of them. He really does. So yeah mztweety, he's still "hot". ;-)

I live in Minneapolis, I know a guy that grew up with these cats. To soulpowerful, aging is just a part of living. These cats got something to show for themselves and theis lives, especially Mr. Nelson a.k.a. The Purple One.

I still find this harshly produced. He sort of stripped the Funk glam look, maybe took it a bit more raw, but the sound, band, song, sounded a bit terse, strained, too '88.
Cool surprise was Eddie M on sax! See Prince's America video...Romance 1600 band. Eddie M. influenced by Maceo, but I think way underrated as an alto sax player. Cat is fierce!
