I don't think this was a competition between the two. They have a tremendous amount of respect for each other. Besides, the same could be said of Placido trying to sing a Pop or R&B tune. Yes he could sing, yet he could not stand against Dionne. They are both wonderful singers.

dionne has a beautiful voice no doubt but Placido`s voice is just too strong and u can hardly hear her but it was a nice rendition

LABMANJRB69: Let's not forget the varying experience of BOTH these excellent singers. Dionne has been miked her whole career, if I am not mistaken, while Placido has performed without a mike of any kind for almost the same percentage of his career. He HAD to develop that kind of power - and now it's second nature to him. He's not wilfully overpowering Dionne. She just hasn't the vocal clout to match him. Maybe the answer could have been to adjust the gain on their mikes.

Speaking as someone who can and has sung unmiked and miked, it's not just raw power that makes you heard to the back of the hall. In fact, if you try to just raw-power it, you'll fail every time. It's not about shouting. It's a difference in technique.

I Love Dionne. I Love Placido : This Ave Maria of Bebu Silvetti is magnificiant. The rendition from the singers and orchestra is perfect. Dionne's mike and or enregistration (taping) is not up to par. I am certain that Mr. Domingo being an accomplished and excellent singer was listening and" pianissimo" to his partner as they were duetting. Notice Placido has two micks and Ms. Warwick has one fifferent brand... and the all ensemble sound nasal (or ZZinging) due to over saturation...

Bebu Silvetti produced an album for Engelbert Humperdinck called 'Love Unchained' in 1995.
He was such a talented men...unfortunately no longer with us. God Bless!
