Dont know bout costing a billion dollars for B-52, pehaps a B-2 i could believe, but the B-52 was built from the 50's onwards and as is still currently in service, has past its 50th year on operational duties. I doubt very much they wouldve paid a billion dollars for 1 B-52 back then!

I believe that in 1998 it would cost $53.4million to have the B-52H delivered!!!!
I believe the last B-52 was built back in the 60's and wouldve cost $10million, but with continuing upgrades the price rises to $53million. All detailed info on wikipedia

The last B-52 was built in 1962 so, there is no way to know how much they would cost today. Honestly, none would be delivered today because the B-52 is very old technology and extremely outdated. The only reason it's guarunteed until 2040 is because it can be retrofitted very easily.

the politicians lost the war, not the troops. If we wanted to we could of ended the whole thing by severely fucking over N. Vietnam with an invasion. Instead we let the politicians decide when we should kill the enemy or how we should move our troops.

Old school carpet bombing. The very start of the video was taken at Anderson AFB on Guam. (I was there, 1972/73) The bombs you see dropping are 500 pounders for the most part. There is on scene where there a some fatter bombs coming out of the bomb bay, those are 750 pounders. All of them are dumb bombs. The plane is a B52D. The silver one in the clip, was from the bombing missions of 1969. B52D's were black underbellies, B52G's were white. B52H's weren't used for conventional missions.
