Excuse me, I know you are American, and probably couldn't point to Britain on any map, let alone Scotland, but Britain is the whole of the island which includes England, Scotland, and Wales. If you add Northern Ireland to this, it turns into Great Britain, so if you come from Scotland, you are still British, as you are if you come from England Wales or Northern Ireland, so please go out and buy an atlas!
